I attended Fur the ‘More 2026 as my first ever furry con, after eight years as a cosplay & fantasy photographer. I’ve worked individually with fursuiters for six years, and multiple of them have asked me to bring my services to a furry con, so I finally did! While I expected this to be a positive experience, I could not have anticipated how refreshing and relaxed the whole experience was. I knew I would be entering this fandom as an outsider, so I wanted to be gentle and respectful with my approach - I would not ask for payment for any of my photoshoots, but would give fursuiters the opportunity to tip, or simply move on without payment, with zero guilt or pressure. It did not take long for me to feel truly welcome. “Influencer” culture and egos have been a sad reality of the cosplay scene since I started photographing it in 2019. At FTM, none of that existed. Everyone I pulled aside (or who came up to me) showed genuine gratitude, and the understanding that we are all truly equal, and none of us are “cooler” than anyone else. To every whimsical, beautiful, ethereal (or however you want to be perceived) being who stepped foot in front of my camera, I truly thank you. You reminded me of how pure cosplay photography can be, all while giving me a break from using skin smoothing when I edit! [Every person pictured has a folder of photos available to download.
